HOW THIS PUBLICATION SHOULD WORK

Make the evidence visible.

A working set of editorial standards for owner approval and implementation.

Draft starter content. Review and complete with your real publication details before launch.

Separate facts, interpretation and advice

Reporting should identify its sources. Analysis should explain the reasoning behind its interpretation. Practical guides should not dress a suggestion up as a guaranteed result. A headline and its image must fairly represent the article.

Verify the claim that matters

Prefer primary documents, direct statements and accessible source material. Check dates and scope: an old statistic does not become current because a page was retrieved today. Do not copy a chart, quote or photograph without considering attribution and usage rights.

Describe creator profiles accurately

A public-source profile is an editorial summary. It is not creator-submitted, verified by that creator, affiliated with that creator or evidence of availability. A submitted profile should be identified as such. Metrics supplied later must be dated and labelled; unverified numbers should not become promotional claims.

Keep commercial decisions separate

Advertising and sponsored material should be labelled clearly. A paid enquiry must not determine an editorial conclusion. Disclose relevant relationships and avoid unsupported testimonials, ratings or client logos.

Correct with a visible record

Review factual concerns against the underlying evidence. When a material error is corrected, explain the change in the article and keep the modification date accurate. Do not quietly recycle an older article as new reporting.

Respect people and their work

Avoid publishing unnecessary personal details. Use permissioned images or clearly non-photographic identity artwork. Apply additional care when a story concerns children, sensitive events or private individuals.

Before these standards go live

The publisher must name the responsible editor, approve the standards and establish the actual review process. This draft describes the intended approach; it does not invent an operating newsroom or imply independent certification.
